With the approach of the holy month of Ramadan, the need topay extra attention to health becomes increasingly important to ensure a safeand healthy fasting experience—especially for individuals with medicalconditions that require close monitoring, such as diabetes and hypertension. Inline with this, the primary goal of organizing a pre-Ramadan awareness campaignwas to enhance community health awareness and provide essential guidance forsafe and informed fasting.

Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital – Jeddah organized an awareness campaign for its visitors and patients underthe title “Your Health in Ramadan” during the month of March.The campaign aimed to educate the community on a wide range of vital healthtopics to maintain and improve wellbeing throughout the holy month. Thesetopics included:

  • Managing blood sugar levelsduring fasting for diabetic patients
  • Managing high blood pressurethroughout Ramadan
  • Preventing household burns andapplying proper first-aid measures
  • Maintaining healthy nutritionand choosing suitable foods for fasting
  • Recommendations on physicalactivity and the best times to exercise
  • Hydration and fluid-intakeguidelines
  • Identifying medical conditionsfor which fasting is not recommended

The campaign saw a high number of attendees, many of whomreceived personalized health counseling tailored to their individual healthneeds. Information and guidance were provided by several participatingdepartments and groups, including the Patient and Community EducationDepartment, Family Medicine, NutritionDepartment, Marketing Department, and volunteersfrom Fakeeh College for Medical Sciences.

Additionally, the campaign featured interactive booths,educational posters, and direct consultations with specialists, creating acomprehensive and engaging awareness experience for all participants.

The initiative received overwhelmingly positivefeedback from visitors, including patients and staff members, whoexpressed their full satisfaction with the hospital’s ongoingefforts to promote community health and support public wellbeing. This positivesentiment was clearly reflected in the evaluation surveys collected at the endof the event, which highlighted the quality and clarity of the informationprovided, as well as the excellent organization and strong collaborative spiritamong all participating teams
