With the approach of the holy month of Ramadan, the need to pay extra attention to health becomes increasingly important to ensure a safe and healthy fasting experience—especially for individuals with medical conditions that require close monitoring, such as diabetes and hypertension. In line with this, the primary goal of organizing a pre-Ramadan awareness campaign was to enhance community health awareness and provide essential guidance for safe and informed fasting.

Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital – Jeddah organized an awareness campaign for its visitors and patients under the title “Your Health in Ramadan” during the month of March. The campaign aimed to educate the community on a wide range of vital health topics to maintain and improve wellbeing throughout the holy month. These topics included:

  • Managing blood sugar levels during fasting for diabetic patients
  • Managing high blood pressure throughout Ramadan
  • Preventing household burns and applying proper first-aid measures
  • Maintaining healthy nutrition and choosing suitable foods for fasting
  • Recommendations on physical activity and the best times to exercise
  • Hydration and fluid-intake guidelines
  • Identifying medical conditions for which fasting is not recommended

The campaign saw a high number of attendees, many of whom received personalized health counseling tailored to their individual health needs. Information and guidance were provided by several participating departments and groups, including the Patient and Community Education Department, Family Medicine, Nutrition Department, Marketing Department, and volunteers from Fakeeh College for Medical Sciences.

Additionally, the campaign featured interactive booths, educational posters, and direct consultations with specialists, creating a comprehensive and engaging awareness experience for all participants.

The initiative received overwhelmingly positive feedback from visitors, including patients and staff members, who expressed their full satisfaction with the hospital’s ongoing efforts to promote community health and support public wellbeing. This positive sentiment was clearly reflected in the evaluation surveys collected at the end of the event, which highlighted the quality and clarity of the information provided, as well as the excellent organization and strong collaborative spirit among all participating teams.
