Today, a school visit was conducted to Al Manarat School to deliver a workshop titled “Diabetes Awareness.” This initiative was guided by the Patient and Family Education Department.

The visit was carried out by the Patient Education Specialist and the Clinical Dietitian. The workshop aimed to increase students’ awareness and understanding of diabetes in a simple and age-appropriate manner.

The sessions covered key topics such as:

  • What is diabetes 
  • The importance of healthy eating 
  • The role of physical activity 
  • Basic prevention tips 
  • The importance of technology with diabetes

Multiple sessions were conducted for elementary grade levels, specifically Grade 3, Grade 5, and Grade 6 students.

In addition, a practical session was conducted to introduce students to diabetes-related technologies. This included demonstrations of:

  • Insulin injection techniques 
  • Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) devices 
  • Glucometer use for blood sugar checking

The students actively participated and showed good engagement throughout the sessions. The workshop was delivered in an interactive and simplified approach to suit their level of understanding.

Conclusion:
The visit was successful in raising awareness about diabetes among young students and promoting healthy lifestyle habits from an early age.
