Discharge instructions
- The eye pad should be kept for at least 6-8 hours, especially in case of local anaesthesia.
- Surgeon may instruct you to have an eye shield during sleep in the first few days.
- Avoid bending or leaning forward in the first week after the operation.
- Avoid carrying heavy weight or strenuous activities in the few days after operation.
- Avoid extra pressure on the eyes for the first week, at least.
- Avoid swimming, using hot tub, and direct water exposure in the first week to reduce the risk of infection.
- Don’t expose your eyes to irritants, such as smoking, grime, dust, etc.
- Don’t rub your eyes.
- From day 2 after the operation, gradually resume using your phone, computer, and TV based on the surgeon recommendations.
- Follow the postoperative instructions for all medications—systemic and local—as directed by your surgeon and as written on each medication’s label/leaflet.
- Use an eye shield when showering or washing your hair.
- For light sensitivity, try wearing sunglasses.
- You should avoid swimming for 4 weeks to reduce the risk of infection.
Visit Ophthalmology clinic or come to the emergency in case of
- Significant discomfort.
- Pain.
- Change of vision.
- Eye secretions.
Follow up
You will have to follow up in day 1, day 7, and one month post -surgery.
