COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course's curriculum is in compliance with Saudi Heart Association Guidelines ( SHA Guidelines /Emergency Cardiovascular Care CPR Guidelines ( ECC CPR) latest evidenced-based guidelines ). At LSTC/FCA , we educate healthcare practitioners to deliver quality patient care, advance healthcare algorithms and make a difference in the patient care. The CPR & AED learning programs increase survival rates by training healthcare providers and lay rescuers on the skills needed to respond to emergency situations quickly, promptly, and effectively and eventually reduce morbidity and mortality.

BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS)

Course Description

The Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers classroom course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals with the following skills:

  • The ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies.
  • Provide CPR.
  • Using an AED.
  • Relieve choking in a safe, timely, and effective manner.
Content
  • Critical concepts of high-quality CPR.
  • The Chain of Survival.
  • Rescuer CPR and AED for adults, children, and infants.
  • Differences between adult, child, and infant rescue techniques.
  • Bag-mask techniques for adults, children, and infants.
  • Rescue breathing for adults, children, and infants.
  • Relief of choking/foreign body airway obstruction for adults, children, and infants.
  • CPR with an advanced airway.
Format

Instructor-led, hands-on class format to reinforce skills proficiency and consistency. The initial provider course completion time requirement is approximately 5-6 hours, including skills practice, skills testing, and written evaluation. The renewal course time requirement is approximately 4 hours, including skills practice and evaluation.

HEARTSAVER ® FIRST AID COURSE
Course Description

Provides participants with the critical skills and knowledge necessary to manage an emergency in the first few minutes until the emergency medical services (EMS) takes over. This course also teaches adult CPR AED for non healthcare providers.

Content
  • First aid basics (including scene safety, finding the problem, calling for help, and more).
  • Medical emergencies (including actions for choking, breathing problems, allergies and shock ).
  • Injury emergencies (including actions for bleeding, broken bones, burns, and more).
  • Environmental emergencies (including actions for bites and stings, temperature-related and poison emergencies).
  • Adult CPR AED (with a mask).
  • Optional modules include child CPR AED and infant CPR including a child and infant choking.
Format

Power point based and Instructor-led, hands-on skills practice format and evaluation The course incorporates the Practice-While-Watching technique, which allows Instructors to observe students, provide feedback and guide them to fully acquire the skills.

Target Audience

All non Health care and Health care provider with limited or no medical training seeking a course completion card in first aid, CPR and AED to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.

ADVANCED CARDIOVASCULAR LIFE SUPPORT (ACLS)

Course Description

The course follows the recent International Resuscitation Guidelines in advanced cardiovascular life support endorsed by SHA. This course highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication as well as systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care.

Content

Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an (AED).
Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest.
Recognition and early management of special consideration.
Airway management and vascular access skill lab.
ECG and dysrhythmia interpretation and related pharmacology.
Management of Acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and stroke.
Effective Resuscitation Team Dynamics.
Lethal Arrhythmias, Bradycardia and Tachycardia

Format

Instructor-led classroom course with large-group classroom and small-group learning and testing skills where case-based scenarios are presented.

Target Audience

Healthcare professionals in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies.

PEDIATRIC ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT (PALS)

Course Description

The objective of the PALS Course is to have a better quality of care and management protocol provided to ill or injured children, resulting in decreasing morbidity and mortality.

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Course Description

The NRP course provides Healthcare providers with the basic knowledge to care for the neonatal patient in cardiac arrest and to manage resuscitation efforts in conditions that can potentially lead to arrest.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Identify life-threatening conditions which require resuscitation and identify risk factors that can help predict which infants may require resuscitation.
  • Identify the equipment and personnel needed to resuscitate a newborn.
  • Demonstrate cognitive and psychomotor skills needed to resuscitate and stabilize the neonate respiratory failure or cardiopulmonary arrest.
  • Demonstrate how to manage the post resuscitation period.

ADVANCED TRAUMA LIFE SUPPORT COURSES (ATLS)

Course Description

The course provides the essential information and skills required for providers to identify and treat life threatening injuries under the extreme circumstances associated with these situations in the fast-paced and anxious environment of a trauma room.

Content

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate understanding of concepts and principles of patient assessment and management.
  • Acquire the necessary skills to diagnose and treat traumatic injuries.
  • Establish management priorities in single & multiple trauma.
  • Perform the initial assessment and management of trauma victims.

Physicians in the fields of Acute care, OR, Surgical & Orthopedic areas. Nurses and technicians can benefit by attending as observers/auditors.
