Scabies

Scabies:

is a contagious skin disease caused by mite Sarcoptes scabiei , this disease can cause severe itching and rash It can spread from person to person through direct prolonged skin to skin contact, or indirectly (by sharing contaminated clothes or beddings)

Instructions to prevent the spread of infection:

• Wash the clothes and bed and furniture sheets used by the patient and his contacts during the three days before the use of treatment with the highest possible temperature of water and then dry it also at high temperature.
• No need to wash the Unused clothing (untouched) by the patient for a week before using the treatment
• Clothes like shoes and non-washable tools are placed in a high temperature for half an hour, or exposed to heat by ironing with an iron or using dry cleaning at the highest possible temperature.
• Place the non-washable tools in a sealed plastic bag for a minimum of one week.
• Change the bed mattress.
• Expose carpets, mattresses and sofas for heat of the sun.

Method of using %5 permethrin cream:

1. Bath and wash the body first before applying the cream.
2. Make sure to trim the nails and put the cream under the nails.
3. Apply permethrin cream %5 on clean and dry skin.
4. Apply the cream on the skin for 14 - 8 hours and then it can be washed (it is possible to use the cream at night before sleep and wash it in the morning).
5. Apply permethrin cream %5 on the skin from neck to toes, around and under the nails, fingers and in the folds of the buttocks.
6. In case of infants older than two months, children and the elderly the cream should be applied on the scalp, forehead and face.
7. Avoid applying the cream for the following places: on the nose, lips, eyes or around the eyes and around the mouth.
8. The cream should be applied again on the hands if the patient washed his hands after the application.
9. Wear new clothes and use new bed covers on the day the treatment begins.
   10.In the next day following the treatment the clothes and bed sheets should be changed and the patient should take a shower.
   11.Re-use the cream in the same way after one week

Follow up:

You will have to follow up with your doctor after 7 to 10 day from using the cream.
