Food – Drug Interaction - Cyclosporine (Neoral-Sandimmune)

- Avoid vaccines during therapy unless approved by healthcare professional.
- To decrease the risk of skin malignancies, avoid excessive exposure to ultraviolet light.
- Maintain a low-fat diet (vegetable oils are preferable) in order to decrease drug effect on cholesterol.
- Drug may cause hypertension, renal dysfunction, liver dysfunction, hirsutism, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, headache, tremor, or gingival enlargement.
- Rinsing the oral solution syringe with water either before or after use will cause a variation in dose and should be avoided.
- Avoid concomitant potassium-sparing drugs, potassium supplements, and food/salt substitutes that are high in potassium.
